Vincent L. Briley serves as the Assistant Dean of Learning & Engagement at Cuyahoga Community College - Metropolitan Campus
Who do you look up to most, and why?
My late grandmother, Mrs. Bertha Lee "Honey Mack" Briley. I admire her commitment to providing her children and grandchildren a better life far away from the Mississippi Delta and cotton plantations.
If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would you go? What would you do there?
I would travel to Paris, France, and retrace the steps of famous Black artists and creatives – from Josephine Baker, and Geoffrey Holder, to James Baldwin.
What's your favorite book and why?
Any fairy tale or folk tale book. I love reading about old and wildly imaginative stories that people passed along to each other as part of their culture.
What does "paying it forward" mean to you?
"Trees planted by the ancestors provide shade for their descendants." We must leave a sturdy foundation for our future generations to build upon every day.
